Stop Knot

This is a very useful knot ... really it's a sliding Grinner knot.
I often use it instead of crimps if I can .. tends to be more kind to the line, but it depends on the rig being used.....

To start, take a piece of power gum, around 10cm in length...

Place one end over the line to which you wish to attach the stop knot...
Now twist it around the line 4 or 5 times.......
Bring the end around to the start, thus forming a loop.....
Now twist the power gum around the first set of coils, again 4 or 5 times......
Lubricate the line and power gum, and pull both ends of the power gum in opposite directions, and the knot should close as shown..... don't over do it, or you will kink the line underneath....
Now trim off the tag ends (leave a little spare to allow prevent the knot undoing), and you should be able to apply pressure to slide the knot to the required position....
