FOLKESTONE

Folkestone Warren 23rd Oct.1997

Started fishing by myself around 3.30pm just at the point of high tide. The weather was fine, with cloud and sun, and a cold NE wind of force 4 or 5.....

Decided to plug even though the wind made life difficult, on the basis that the water had some colour, but I could still see the lure, and that a roughed-up surface could mean that the fish would rise..... The only other thing to say, was that a weed band about 20ft out was present.......

Used the J13's, and the Rattlin Raps........ needed the weight to cast the plugs out..... No joy........

Around 4.30pm I decided to change tactic, and try float fishing a whole squid, about 11ft down...... after about half an hour, and just when I was thinking of changing the bait, the float dived off at an acute angle.... I struck home..... the rod bent, felt like a medium sized fish of about 3lb, but no sooner had the thought crossed my mind....... the line dropped limp....... UUUUMMMMMM..

Nothing after this, so I tried with the plugs again until the light dropped.... decided to go back to the float, rather had to see the float, but I could feel it...... got snagged twice as the tide fell.... packed-up and drove home around 6.45pm......

From an e-mail Steve sent me... looks like he had even less joy the day before, and lost a lure as well!!!!!!!
