FOLKESTONE

Folkestone Warren 24th Sept.1997

Started fishing around 3pm at the far end of the second apron with Karen. Wind was around force 4, rising tide (High around 5pm), with a fair bit of weed in the water......

Both of use were using Pike rods and spinning reels. Karen decided to use a Rattln Rapala (gold), whilst I chopped and changed between a weighted redgill, J14 (blue/silver) Rapala, and a Rattlin Rapala (fire tiger)....... I also decided to try out some braid line, which took a little getting used to, but I liked it, although it knotted a few times around the reel on casting (but thats just something for me to look for before I snap the bail arm across.... if caught in time no problem..if not then....).

By 4pm the tide had risen enough to fish the Nags Head end........ after only a few casts using the Rattlin Rapala (fire tiger).. I was in.... Karren came over with the landing net, and almost fell in..... as luck would have it just on her Bum, but ooh so close to going in...... anyway  managed to land a small Bass, photographed, weighed in at 1lb, and returned......

Karren changed over to the fire tiger coloured rattlin rapala, whilst I tried with the redgill........ no joy for either of us..... decided to try around the first apron.... met a chap float fishing for Bass....... saw large shouls of small school Bass come to the surface after white bait a number of times, but for us no more fish... left around 6.30pm to get back to London to meet some evening students at the University..... nice to go back to work at 8.30pm!!!!!!!!
