FOLKESTONE

Folkestone Warren 25th 0ct.1997

Started fishing around 3.30pm on the second high apron, really nice sunny day, very little wind, and with high tide around 6pm.

Started off using the J9's, as the rocks were still exposed and a shallow draft was required....... had one small tug and that was all...... swapped over to the J13's, but still no joy...... Young chap on a bike came and tried his luck on the far end with the slip-way, but he gave up after about an hour or so....!!!!!!

By 5.30pm and with nothing to show, I put a float rig together with a 6/0 pennell and mounted a whole squid.... still used the Rapala as well, just in case...... Nothing..... packed-up around 7pm, could see others fishing on the first apron, but I've no idea how they got on.

Think most of the bass have moved on now, and although I'm sure that a few large ones remain, it's going to be more a case of luck than judgment in finding them...... let the quest for Cod begin........

*** On a sad note, Mick's Tackle Corner, 2 Denmark Street, Folkestone. is closing down..... stock now being sold off at half price.... Mick hopes to be suppling just black lug in about 2 or 3 weeks time... will give details when I have them..... however, he did say that the local diggers would be asking more this year for Lug, something around 3ukp a score of black, which to you and me means a price tag of 4 to 4.50ukp in the shops....... think it maybe time to get a bait-pump!!!!!!
