FOLKESTONE

Folkestone Rotunda Beach 26th Aug.1997

Returned to the Pilot house spot in order to spin for Bass with Tony. Started around 4.30pm but due to a number of children diving off the Old Jetty, had to fish some distance down....... No Bass, but Tony did have a few small Mackerel. Once the Kids had moved off around 6.30pm , we moved over to the Jetty area...... had what may have been a small bass, but after 5mins or so, lost it in the rocks at the side of the pier!!!!! Nothing until around 7.30pm or so when a large shoal of mackerel turned up chasing whitebait...... the sea was boiling with both predator and prey leaping out of the surf, at times the mackerel were no more than an arms length away..... changed the spinners for feathers...... you sure know when you've got 4 mackerel plus on a pike rod and 8lb line!!!!!! Tony and myself collected around 20 mackerel for the pot, and left the rest to dance their way off into the sunset........
