Folkestone Rotunda 31st Aug.2000

Decided to give the rod that Dave from Marsh Tackle had given me, a whirl, and see if I couldn't find those elusive bass..... as I've said before, a nice looking rod that Dave designed in conjunction with Conoflex, and as far as I'm aware is exclusive to Marsh Tackle......

The weather was fine and sunny, with a light northerly wind of force 2 or less.... low water was due around 8am, and so I decided to fish down at the Rotunda, at the base of the pier......

Arrived and had setup just before 6am....... decided to pair the "Dicentrarchus" up with the ABU T3000f, 20lb dynabraid, and stick with using either a J13 or a 28g Dexter Wedge...

Took me a little while to get use to the softer action of the rod, but once I'd adjusted to it, I really enjoyed using it, both for casting the lures, and the additional action that it seemed to be able to give to the retrieve.... anyway you'll have to wait for the full write-up specifically for the rod, but I will say that I'm probably going to use it as my main plugging rod from now on.... and if that doesn't tell you what I think of it, nothing will!!!!!!!

Although the sea was flat, I saw little in the way of surface activity, apart from the odd baitfish here and there........ Low water came.... and went, and still nothing.......

8.50am..... thump...... a fish took the lure (Dexter Wedge) .. only a small fish, but it was a fish .. only trouble was that it managed to come off before I'd got it to the surface close in..... probably a small bass or mackerel, who can say!!!!

10.25am...... bang...... something took the Wedge .... very quickly I'm greeted by the sight of a garfish almost tailwalking on the surface....... soon brought it in... 24", took a picture and returned it.......

By 11am, I'd had enough and decided to call it a day..........
