Guide to Shore Fishing in Jersey

This is only a rough guide to the fishing
that can be expected in the month of : August

At the risk of repeating myself again..... fishing in August is very similar to July, although the quantity of catch tends to increase as the month proceeds, often as a function of increased availability of bait fish in the water....

Fishing for thick-lipped mullet from the harbours and other known marks such as the Dicq and Noirmont, etc., has to be seriously considered..... make sure your using light tackle and ground bait frequently, otherwise you'll be wasting your time...

Ballan wrasse are also worth targeting from such places as Elizabeth Castle, the new land reclamation sites, and other rocky marks around the coast.

Spinning / plugging for bass, pollack, mackerel, and garfish from rocky marks is an option, esp. to get away from the crowded pier with day-trippers and pier-jumpers......

General ground fishing should yield flatfish, black bream, dogfish, rays, scad, pouting, and conger, with red mullet becoming more frequent....
