Guide to Shore Fishing in Jersey

This is only a rough guide to the fishing
that can be expected in the month of : February

February tends to prove to be a difficult month for shore fishing, with the same sort of trends seen in January but with fewer fish both in terms of number and species available....

Fishing during daylight is not really an option, unless your after flounder, in which case head for the southern harbour areas such as St.Aubin's Bay etc....

Conger may again be an option if the weather is mild, with the rough ground spots of the north and south-west coasts, such as Grosnez, Corbiere, etc.. Whilst rocky marks often offer better opportunities they are also more prone to be off limits (for safety reasons) due to prevailing weather conditions. Elizabeth Castle may be an alternative option, potentially offering the chance of both conger and pollack....

Harbours, sea walls and piers such as those at Rozel, Bouley Bay, Bonne Nuit, St.Catherine's Breakwater etc., may afford the chance of pollack, especially around the illuminated areas, and targeted using float-fishing tactics. Other species available from suck marks would normally include dogfish, pouting , rockling and conger.
