Rozel Bay 29th July 2000
GR: 698,544

Drove over to St.Ouen's Motor Works around 3.00pm, and purchased some fresh rag and frozen squid, plus a few bits and bobs of terminal tackle.... looked at a number of carp/pike/bass rods to replace the one I'd managed to snap, but couldn't decide on any given one.. so left it for another day.....

Karen and myself then drove over and collected Chris and decided to set off for Rozel, based upon the fishing we'd had two days previous..... when we arrived the Harbour area again had a number of parking spaces available, so we unloaded the gear, and made our way over to the rocks of the western side of the bay.......

We set up a number of rigs between the three of us, so that we could spin and ledger, as the mood took us..... float fishing was out due to a strong cross wind of force 3/4 from the NE.
Started fishing just after 5.00pm, with high water due around 6pm. The weather forecast was for sunshine and showers....

Chris started spinning, whilst Karen and myself sorted ourselves out ...... after about five minutes or so, Chris had a take.. but the fish soon got off, much to Chris's disgust....

The combination of rising tide and the prevailing wind resulted in large mats of weed passing directly across us ... which rapidly put pay to spinning/plugging...... until much later that evening....

Nothing happened for the following hour, save for a number of sets of tackle lost to the rocky snags........

6-15pm ..... had a series of sharp bites on the rod I was using to ledger ragworm on ..... and pulled up a small 10" wrasse.....

We all started to get exited, thinking this was the start of things to come .... we were very, very wrong ..... nothing .. not even a bite for the next 3 hours, despite our varied tactics and bait combinations between us :-(

9.10pm .... Karen managed to pull out an 8" pouting ... took a picture, but found it was out of focus just after she put it back....

We had planned to fish well into the darkness, but it's strange how things work out .... both Karen's and Chris's bulbs failed on their headlamps/touches .. a sign from above that it was probably time to go .....

9.20pm ... just about to reel in .. and I had a string of small pouting bite ..... and surprise, surprise, landed an 8" pouting........

Decided to call it a day and left around 9.30pm.....
