Folkestone Warren 28th Aug.2000

Drove over to the Warren from the abortive trip at Seabrook.... walked down to the Nags Head and started plugging around 9am on the rising tide........

9.20am.... bang .... a fish hits the J13 ..... not a large fish .. but a fish none the less .... brought it in quickly ... a small bass of 13".... took a photo and put it back as usual......

Kept at it until around 11am ... the weather was rapidly deteriorating and I decided to call a halt and started to pack up ..... then the heavens opened, with sheet rain, hail stones, thunder and lightning..... I was soaked through..... walked back to the car, and headed off to Marsh Tackle ..... phoned the shop on route and spoke to Wendy who kindly said she'd a) have a cup of coffee waiting, and b) would let Dave know that I was on my way.......

Arrived at Marsh Tackle around midday, and sure enough a steaming mug of coffee awaited me.... went over to the new shop to meet Dave .... the new shop is dedicated to camping equipment, a spillover from the original fishing requirements, plus a restocking specially for this concern ..... a very good idea, as a lot of clothing etc. that was always hidden upstairs in the tackleshop is now clearly on display... looks good, and Dave certainly seemed to be doing a very brisk trade..... After a while we got chatting, and I told him about snapping yet another Carp rod when I was over in Jersey ...... Dave's ears pricked up at this, and said he had a Bass Rod that he'd like me to try / test out, one of his own design in conjunction with Conoflex...... a very nice looking rod and the latin name for bass "Dicentrarchus labrax" ... I did point out to Dave there was one small problem is testing out the rod and doing a write-up for him ....... my ability to actually catch a fish to try it out!!!!!!!!!

Around 2.30pm I decided to leave and head off towards Samphire Hoe, said my good byes and thanked Dave for the Rod, purchased a number of prime peeler crabs, and setoff.......
