The Aquarium Project.

This web site aims to act as a simple guide to the Identification of Sea Fish caught in and around the coastal waters of the United Kingdom, although at some time in the future we will include a sub-section for fresh water species as well....

We also hope to include other fishing related topics, such as tactics, baits, etc... for each of the more common species.... along with articles, on conservation and tagging....... hopfully without re-inventing the "wheels", from our own individual home sites......

Project Team (so far as I understand):
Alan Pemberton, Jaybee, Rick Ryder, Martin Nash, Davy Holt, Andy Horton, Matt Finnemor, Sue & Jeri Drake, Paul Barrow, Erling Svensen, Phil Whiting......

Overview of the Aquarium Project and Site Ethos:

Send mail to aquarium@uk-fish.info

Last up-dated:

16th Dec 2010

Moved to NEW hosting area due to the shut down of our original ISP host - UKOnline

The site needs some major TLC and updating, which we hope you'll see happening during the first half of 2011

NEW Photo Pix / Pages :
...............................................

Greater Spotted Dogfish (Scyliorhinus stellaris)

Sun Fish (Mola mola)

Red Gurnard ( Aspitrigla cuculus)

Rock Cook (Centrolabrus exoletus)

Goldsinny (Ctenolabrus rupestris)

Corkwing Wrasse (Crenilabrus melops)

Couch's Seabream (Pagrus pagrus)

Sun Fish (Mola mola)

Gilthead (Sparus aurata)

Red Band-fish (Cepola rubescens)

Derbio (Trachinotus ovatus)

Turbot (Psetta maxima)

Things that we are still working upon:
  • Full descriptions for the ID section
  • Photographs / Drawings for each species
  • Conservation/Tagging programmes
  • Special ID sections for certain groups
  • Distribution maps for species around the coastal waters of the UK.

Things you can help us with:

  • We are looking for photo's for each of the fish here......
Side on, full body shots, that will aid others in terms of ID.
What we don't really want, are pic's of anglers with their catch suspended in mid-air... although something is better than nothing!!!
If you think you can help then e-mail us at aquarium@uk-fish.info
Any of your photo's used will be credited to you, and thus you MUST have the copyright to that material ... ie don't go and "borrow" them off of other peoples web sites, books, mags etc........
  • As this site is being constructed on the hoof, there will be mistakes, errors, and many of the descriptions are only in draft form, and will need to be rewritten in the fullest of time.
We would ask for your understanding, and that you point out any errors as and when they occur.

Choose your Species:

This is a link section straight to a dedicated page on that particular species of fish.
We were considering a picture link system, but it would probably take to long to load.

As this is under major construction, it's going to take a while, plus there will be mistakes.......
If you spot them, then let us know....  aquarium@uk-fish.info
